Azo Bladder Control: I Tried It And Heres What I Think About It

â?5 Techniques Your DOCTOR NEVER Told You â?Acupressure Points for Blood Pressure Treatment â?

July 7, 2016 by Magnolia

At the beginning of this year I did a sponsored post on AZO Bladder Control. That post included a giveaway for 500 winners. I dont know if you were one of them or if youve personally tried the product, but because I have issues with urgency and stress incontinence, I thought I would personally give the product a try and see what I think about.

Before I tried the product I also did a quick Internet search to see what I could find out about it, reviews, etc. I did see one of those Warning! Warning! Warning! reviews where the writer was just short of hysterical. And please, I just cant take those types of reviews seriously. Call me jaded, okay? But just calm down and give me the information already.

Anyway.

I wasnt dissuaded by the hysterics of prior reviews and retrieved one of the boxes of AZO Bladder Control out of the inventory I have in my office. I first read the supplement facts on the back of the box:

The AZO Bladder Control proprietary blend includes pumpkin seed and soy germ, two ingredients which seemed okay to me. Of course, the Other Ingredients include words I cant pronounce, and as such, I guess Im not supposed to take it according to all the health and wellness gurus. But, I did anyway.

I had none. Yea for me. Off to a good start.

Pyridium Makes Urine Orange

Phenazopyridine is essentially a dye that soothes the lining of the urinary tract. In most people, it darkens the color of the urine to an orange or red color. This is not harmful and is expected with the use of phenazopyridine. However, it may cause permanent stains on underwear. People who use soft contact lenses should avoid using them while on treatment with this drug as it can stain them permanently.

This medication can cause unusual results with urine tests. Tell any doctor who treats you that you are using phenazopyridine.

Best Treatment For Bladder Leaks

Recent research strengthens the link between incontinence drugs and dementia risk. Here’s how to find relief.

Drugs for an overactive bladder are promised to curb frequent bathroom breaks and bladder leaks.

But is taking medicationsmost of them members of a class of drugs called anticholingericsreally the best solution for regaining control of your bladder?

Anticholinergics commonly cause mental confusion, especially in older adults, and have, in the past, been linked to an increased risk of dementia.

Now, a large analysis from the U.K., published last week in the journal BMJ, has found that anticholinergic drugs, especially those used for bladder problems, Parkinsons disease, and depression, are associated with a higher likelihood of dementia in older adults even 20 years after use.

While this class of medications has long been known to be linked to memory troubles, it was not known whether the effects were permanent, says Michael Hochman, M.D., an associate professor of clinical medicine at the Keck School of Medicine at the University of Southern California. But this study suggests that the effects may not entirely reverse after stopping the medication.

The research doesnt prove that the drugs cause dementiaonly that there is an association between the two. However, this study does raise concerns, and anticholinergic medications for incontinence have several other well-established side effects, Hochman says.

Do Bladder Control Products Help To Strengthen A Weak Bladder

Bladder control products are natural dietary supplements that help strengthen your bladder without synthetic ingredients and potentially harmful chemicals. These products contain herbs, plants, and other compounds that have been used for centuries to address these problems.

Not only they alleviate incontinence, but they also support urinary tract health and provide more strength to bladder muscles. At the same time, these products stimulate the excretion of fluids from the body while alleviating pain, discomfort, and other symptoms you experience. Potent herbs remove toxins that would otherwise damage your bladder, urinary tract, and overall health.

There is no simple yes or no answer to the question of whether these products work. Not all bladder control supplements are equal. Some of them work, others do not. It all depends on the product you buy, so you need to pay extra attention when choosing these items.

Tips For Sleeping Well

Many doctors and urologists will recommend that people restrict the amount of alcohol and caffeine they drink throughout the day.

Even if these substances are not the cause of the disorder, both are diuretics and may make symptoms worse. Doctors may also suggest that people with nocturia drink fewer liquids during the evening and before bed.

Foods that are rich in liquids and foods that act as diuretics can be avoided as well. Examples include:

  • artificial sweeteners

Keeping a food diary is a helpful tool for many people. Writing down what is eaten every day can help identify a link between symptoms and problematic foods.

Some people also benefit from training their bladder to help regain control of its contractions. If the bladder is used to contracting every hour to tell the body it is time to urinate, it will often continue this habit.

Over time, it may be possible to train the bladder to pass urine every 2-4 hours instead, or to hold it in overnight. This is best done under the guidance of a doctor.

OAB is caused by early and uncontrolled spasms of the bladder muscle, which makes a person have to urinate when their bladder is not actually full. This means regular urination throughout the day, and often during the night.

While people with OAB may experience frequent urination at night, people with nocturia tend to only experience frequent urination at night.

Many people with nocturia produce a normal amount of urine overall, but simply produce much more urine at night.

What The Drug Ads Don’t Say

Drug ads may leave out information you need to decide whether medication is best for you, Hochman says. For example:

Symptoms may be addressed without drugs. About one-third of the time, bladder leaks and strong urges to go resolve in women within a year without treatment. In many cases, simple lifestyle changes, such as cutting back on certain fluids or doing exercises to strengthen muscles supporting the bladder, can greatly improve control.

The drugs often dont work well. According to an analysis by Consumer Reports Best Buy Drugs, most people who take these medications can expect only modest relief. Medication reduces the number of daily bathroom trips from 12 to nine or 10, on average. People who experience bladder leaks can expect one or two fewer episodes per day.
