Evaluation Of Efficacy And Safety
The therapeutic outcomes were evaluated using the OABSS questionnaire . The OABSS questionnaire was completed during the initial examination and at 1 year following treatment initiation. Residual urine was measured through ultrasound. The Vaginal Health Index Scale was used and safety was examined. For VHIS, a system widely used in the field of gynecology, the appearance of vaginal epithelium was evaluated via internal examination performed by a physician. Each parameter was graded on a scale of 15 , with a total score of15 indicating an atrophic condition. Constipation was evaluated using the Constipation Assessment Scale , including eight items scored on a scale of 02 points, with a higher score indicating severe constipation. The degree of mouth dryness was evaluated according to a five-point scale . All other adverse events were recorded by free description. All treatments and examination were administered by a single physician accompanied by professional nurses. The pill counts were not used and the adherence to medication was assessed via interviews with the patient and the family.
Transurethral Resection Of The Prostate
In transurethral resection of the prostate, your surgeon inserts an instrument into the urethra to shave prostate tissue with electrocautery, a process that involves an electrically activated wire loop, to remove the part of the prostate that is blocking urine flow.
Using general or spinal anesthesia in the hospital, doctors perform this procedure to relieve severe symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia. It typically requires one to three days in the hospital.

Lasers For The Ablation Of Skin Lesions
Lasers offer minimal scarring and superior cosmetic results compared with other forms of cutaneous lesion resection. Condyloma acuminata, the most common sexually transmitted disease, often occurs on the penile shaft, on the glans, or even in the urethra. A good vaporization response is obtained with the CO2 laser if lesions are superficial or with Nd:YAG and KTP lasers for deeper lesions, frequently treated after administration of a local anesthetic. An endoscopic optical fiber can be used for intraurethral lesions with minimal scar tissue and stricture formation. A study by Schneede et al of 161 patients whose cases were observed for a mean of 16 months after laser treatment of urogenital warts revealed a recurrence-free rate of 80%. Because human papillomavirus viral particles may be carried in the vaporization cloud, using a smoke evacuator and proper oronasal mask protection is important.
Penile carcinoma in the early stages can also be treated, with excellent cosmetic results. CO2 can be used for superficial lesions, and Nd:YAG can be used for more invasive lesions. Accurately staging lesions with biopsy prior to treating with laser vaporization is important. Close follow-up also is a key because the depth of laser penetration can be initially difficult to assess. No significant difference in the rate of local recurrence after conservative surgical excision compared with laser ablation appears to exist.
What Are The Symptoms Of Urinary Retention
The signs can vary. Some people with the chronic form have a hard time starting the flow of urine. Some have a weak flow once they start. Others may feel the need to go but cant start. Others have to go a lot, while others still feel the need to go right after going. You may leak urine when you arent going because the bladder is full.
With the acute form, youre all of a sudden not able to go at all, or only able to go very small amounts. This occurs even though you have a full bladder. See a healthcare provider right away if this happens to you.

You can also talk to a physical therapist to see if youre squeezing the right muscles.
There are two main types of urinary incontinence:
If you have this type, activities that raise the pressure inside your abdomen cause urine to leak through the ring of muscle in your bladder that normally holds it in. Coughing, sneezing, jumping and lifting heavy objects could lead to a leak.
It is possible to have both types of incontinence at the same time.

Medications For Female Urinary Incontinence
If therapies arent effective, Dr. Kardos may prescribe medications to calm an overactive bladder or topical estrogens to help rejuvenate your vaginal region to better support your bladder. There are a number of medications to treat incontinence caused by urge to continually void. Where incontinence is stress related, there are no medications for to treat this. For incontinence caused by a combination of both urge and stress, drug therapy may be helpful in treating the urge component.

Symptoms of Urinary Incontinence
The symptoms of urinary incontinence include:
- An urgent need to urinate, followed by involuntary urination
- Small amounts of urine leakage
- Bladder may completely empty involuntarily
- Urine leakage from exertion such as running, jumping, sneezing, coughing or lifting heavy objects

How Can Stress Incontinence Be Treated
The Gynaecologists at Specialist Clinics of Australia treat most gynaecological concerns and indications. However, one of the most novel treatments, is the use of some of the new modern lasers in the treatment of stress incontinence of urine.
Many women suffer a minor nuisance or a more significant interfering range of symptoms of bladder leakage or stress incontinence.
This is a common condition after childbirth, where the vaginal wall becomes lax and weakened, and no longer supports the overlying bladder wall. This alters the dynamics of the bladder sphincter and many women suffer such mild bladder leakage with such occurrences as coughing, sneezing, exercise, either mild or moderate, laughing or anything else that will affect the pressure on the bladder.
A surprisingly simple answer and treatment for this is both the use of the CO2 and Erbium vaginal lasers, to strengthen, tighten, firm and lift the vaginal wall, thus increasing the support of the bladder and significantly improving the symptoms of this bladder leakage of stress incontinence.
What Works Best To Help Men With Overactive Bladder
TUESDAY, Jan. 14, 2020 Learning how to control the urge to urinate may be all the therapy men need to treat an overactive bladder, a new study suggests.
A combination of drugs and behavioral therapy seems to work better than drugs alone, but behavioral therapy alone also worked better than drugs, the researchers found.
The trial of 204 men with overactive bladder suggests behavioral therapy may be a good way to start treatment, the study authors said.
The study provides good evidence that for the group of men with overactive bladder, symptoms without obstruction from an enlarged prostate can be successfully managed with behavioral therapy alone, said Dr. Manish Vira, who was not involved with the study, but reviewed the findings. Hes vice chairman of urologic research at Northwell Healths Arthur Smith Institute for Urology in Lake Success, N.Y.
Many medications typically prescribed for overactive bladder have significant side effects, especially in older men using multiple medications, Vira added.
For the trial, Kathryn Burgio, associate director of research at the Birmingham VA Medical Center in Alabama, and colleagues randomly assigned men to six weeks of behavioral therapy alone, drug therapy alone, or combined drug and behavioral therapy. After the initial six weeks, all of the men received combination therapy for another six weeks.

Laser Therapy For Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia
BPH is the most prevalent disease entity in elderly men. In the late 1980s, lasers became a novel way to open a wider channel and improve voiding dynamics. Many different techniques under the term laser prostatectomy have evolved. Individual techniques may vary greatly, but the 2 main tissue effects include coagulation and vaporization. Coagulation occurs when somewhat diffusely focused laser energy heats tissue and temperatures reach as high as 100°C. Proteins denature, and necrosis ensues. This results in subsequent sloughing of necrotic tissue . This process may take as long as several weeks to complete and often initially results in edema, which transiently increases prostate volume .
The principle representative procedures in the laser coagulation category include visual laser ablation of the prostate using Nd:YAG and interstitial laser coagulation . VLAP uses a direct transurethral viewing source along with a laser that is supplemented by a visible aiming beam.
Interstitial coagulation using a diode laser is another coagulative technique in which optical fibers are introduced transurethrally or perineally directly into the prostate. This can cause large-volume necrosis with atrophy while preserving the urethral mucosa.
Although all of the modalities mentioned are efficacious, none is efficacious enough to make the old-fashioned TURP obsolete.

What Is Laser Surgery For Bph
Laser therapy is a treatment option used by urologists to treat Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia which is otherwise known as an enlarged prostate.
BPH is a very common condition among men who are 60 and older. Approximately 80% of men have an enlarged prostate by the time they are 80. The cause of an enlarged prostate is not always known. Your prostate grows to normal size throughout the teenage years and then, for many, continues to grow and may become enlarged in their later years.
The prostate is a male reproductive gland that produces fluid for semen. It is found surrounding the urethra. A normal-sized prostate is about the size of a walnut. As a prostate enlarges it closes in on the urethra which can cause troublesome and uncomfortable symptoms in men.
The urethra carries urine from the bladder out of the body. If the prostate is affecting the urethra it can cause the following symptoms:
- Frequent need to urinate both day and night
- A weak or slow urinary stream
- A sense that you cannot completely empty your bladder
- Difficulty or delay in starting urination
- Urgent feeling of needing to urinate
- A urinary stream that stops and starts
- One treatment option for BPH includes greenlighting laser surgery.

Laser Treatment Of Urothelial Malignancies
Various laser energies have been used to treat bladder and upper urinary tract urothelial tumors. Most commonly, holmium and Nd:YAG are used in this setting. They are used through quartz fibers, which are directed endoscopically. The Nd:YAG laser energy is used to coagulate and ablate with a thermal effect that extends deeper than other lasers. Holmium is more precise, with less of a coagulative effect.
